Using a construction of flexible TenCate Miragrid® GX geogrid, TenCate Geosynthetics secured the highway embankment along a curvy river in the Czech Republic in a cost-efficient manner and with maximum stability.

Specifically customized application  

For the reinforcement of a steep embankment on a new section of the I/62 highway directly on the banks of the Jilovsky River in the Czech Republic, a technically ideal and economical construction was realized with TenCate Miragrid® GX Geogrid. The course of the road along the winding river required a flexible solution which blended in with the natural surroundings.

By installing TenCate Miragrid® GX, we were able to provide optimal protection for the steep slope in its natural, winding shape following the path of the river and deliver an economical solution for our client.

TenCate Miragrid® GX: High tensile strength and a low creep tendency

TenCate Miragrid® GX products feature an excellent adaptability for specific reinforcement constructions and ideally met the particular challenges of the project. The geogrids, made from high tenacity polyester yarns, combine a high tensile strength and a low tendency to creep as well as a superior connection capacity to the soil and are suitable for bespoke solutions in a natural design. 


The special properties of TenCate Miragrid® GX allowed for the flexible yet maximally stable reinforcement of the soil on the embankment winding along the river, as well as a structured top layer with a block wall system. The height of the structure was likewise adapted to the natural environment, varying from 1.7 meters to a maximum of 5.8 meters along the structure.
