With more than 50 years of experience, TenCate Geosynthetics provides sustainable marine applications that are unparalleled in terms of their ecological advantages.

Climate change presents the environment with various challenges: from more frequent and intense storms to increased beach erosion and rising sea levels. Addressing current environmental challenges that will increase in severity in the future, TenCate Geosynthetics provides proven and successful marine applications that have been securely tested by many institutions worldwide.

TenCate Geosynthetics geosystems for marine applications are suitable for various sustainable applications such as preventing beach erosion, shoreline protection or the creation of wetland habitats. TenCate Geosynthetics marine applications’ technology is based on TenCate Geotube® and TenCate Geocontainer systems: tubes produced from specially developed synthetic fabrics that have, over decades of use, proven to be cost-efficient, highly flexible, quickly installed, scalable and durable. Compared to the traditional alternatives such as rock, concrete or timber for marine applications, TenCate Geosynthetics marine application solutions offer many ecological advantages.

Making the ecological difference in marine applications

Protecting and enhancing coastal communities

Beach communities are increasingly threatened by heavy storms and the resulting wave action. TenCate Geosynthetics marine applications do not only prevent beach erosion to protect residents but also support the natural growth of beaches whilst maximizing the amenity for the local community.

Protecting wildlife

TenCate Geotube® systems are used to protect natural living space, such as securing wildlife reserves with dams made of tubes. Providing a seemingly natural habitat, TenCate Geotube® systems are accepted by birds and other wildlife.

Using locally available material

TenCate Geosynthetics marine applications use local material to build breakwaters, dikes, and other structures. The reduced transport movement lowers carbon dioxide emissions and reduces transportation costs. Compared to traditional solutions, such as concrete, timber or rock, TenCate Geosynthetics Geotube® solutions have a lighter environmental impact.

TenCate Geosynthetics marine application solutions do not prevent climate change. They do, however, make a positive contribution to the environment by offering sustainable and secure solutions to some of the challenges faced today.
