Inspiring expert exchange

Two days dedicated to expert discussions, workshops, and project presentations on large-scale thermal energy storage systems – the 24 participants examined expert topics from different perspectives and developed interdisciplinary solutions during the four different subtask sessions.
We enjoyed being host of this informative and successful meeting! Solmax is participating in the IEA ES Task 39 to support the heat transition with the company´s expertise, activities, and further developments – for example the Efficient Pit research project – of the large-scale seasonal Pit Thermal Energy Storages.

Networking across the borders

Beyond that, the coffee breaks and evening events offered a good opportunity for networking across borders and mutual exchange on market activities, experiences and interesting projects.
Excursion to PTES Meldorf
On day two Solmax invited the group to an excursion to Germany´s first large-scale Pit Thermal Energy Storage System in Meldorf, North-Western Germany. The company´s own installation team is responsible for implementing the pit´s professional sealing and the high-tech insulated lid with Solmax products. This PTES project – with a volume of 50,000 m3 –is the cornerstone of Meldorf´s new smart energy system to reduce carbon emissions and give the residents of the small town flexibility and reliability of energy supply.

In the focus of the media

It was not the first time that Meldorf construction site and the topic heat transition has attracted media interest: The northern German broadcast station (NDR / Norddeutscher Rundfunk) conducted interviews on site. The interview with task manager, Wim van Helden from AEE – Institut für Nachhaltige Technologien will be published by NDR.
