A picture of the spectacular installation of the glacier protection fleece TenCate Toptex® GLS from TenCate Geosynthetics on the Presena glacier in Italy was chosen to be included in Reuters´ renowned “Pictures of the year” 2020.

The most recent installation of the glacier protection fleece under the brand name of TenCate Toptex® GLS from TenCate Geosynthetics, covering over 100,000 square meters of the Presena glacier in Northern Italy, was documented by a photographer from the news agency Reuters.

At the end of 2020, one picture of the series was selected to be included in the Environment section of
Reuters´ „Pictures of the year 2020“.

The renowned annual review from Reuters reflects the current world events at a glance in a small selection of expressive pictures from crucial events and moving moments.

“We are proud that our product is shown in this review. The installation on the Presena glacier was very challenging due to extreme conditions with regard to setup and logistics.”

Sustainable solution to combat climate change: Slowing down glacial melt by 60%

Slowing down climate change is one of the most complex and important global challenges of our age. TenCate Geosynthetics, a world-leading manufacturer of geosynthetics, significantly contributes to reduce the consequences of climate change through its glacier protection fleece under the brand name of TenCate Toptex® GLS, produced in Linz, Austria: TenCate Toptex® GLS reduces the threatening melting of ice and snow by 60% and helps to preserve the mountain ecosystem. The Presena glacier shown on the photo had already lost more than a third of its volume since 1993.

Since 2008: Sophisticated glacier protection

The glacier protection fleece was developed back in 2008 and is characterized by sophisticated technical qualities: The white fleece of special fibers reflects sunlight to a large extent, ensures a reduction in heat conductivity, is tear-resistant, can be used several seasons and has a water-repellent surface structure.
